Banksy is an anonymous England-based graffiti artist, political activist and film director. His satirical street art and subversive epigrams combine dark humour with graffiti executed in a distinctive stenciling technique. His works of political and social commentary have been featured on streets, walls, and bridges of cities throughout the world.

Using stencils since 2000 to enhance his speed, he developed a distinctive iconography of highly recognizable images, such as rats and policemen, that communicated his antiauthoritarian message. With wry wit and stealth, Banksy merged graffiti art with installation and performance.

Banksy is a street revenger who has no desire to tolerate with omnipresent absurdity. His murals cover a range of issues, from anti-consumerism (Shop Until You Drop) and anti-war to questions of anarchism (The Mild Mild West) and human vices (Naked Man).
