Gila monsters are native to the American Southwest and Northwestern Mexico. They inhabit dry areas, such as the Mojave, Sonoran, and Chihuahuan deserts.

The Gila monster is found in the Southwestern United States and Mexico, across a range including Sonora, Arizona, and parts of California, Nevada, Utah, and New Mexico.

The Gila monster lives primarily in Arizona and Mexico, the extreme southeastern corner of California, the southern tip of Nevada, and the southwestern corners of Utah and New Mexico. Its name comes from the Gila River, where the lizards are common.

Gila monsters are found in northern Mexico and the southwest United States. They live in deserts and arid scrublands, and prefer rocky areas where they can navigate between rocks without being seen. Gila monsters are found in the desert areas at the far western edge of Grand Canyon National Park.

Gila Monsters occur in Sonoran desert scrub, Mojave desert scrub, desert grassland, and Mexican thorn scrub. They are often found in rocky canyons, buttes and mountains. They are found from sea level to approximamtely 5,100 feet in the San Pedro River valley in southeastern Arizona.
