May 25, 2018 · Upstate SC. Feb 26, 2021. #1. I just reviewed the PDS for Rotella T4 15W40, and I noticed that Shell now lists this HDEO as a synthetic blend. To confirm this claim, I contacted Shell and received a response stating that the formulation for Rotella T4 15W40 was upgraded to a synthetic blend in January of this year (2021).

Oct 21, 2021 · The only issues I have being an OTR driver is there seems to be a huge price difference in getting the T5 and T6 oil changes compared to T4. It seems to average about $175-$225 more for the higher grade synthetics compared to T4.

Aug 10, 2021 · The Rotella is not JASO certified and per Shell according to their inhouse testing they say it meets the spec. I use Valvoline Full Synthetic Motorcycle oil in my Ninja 650 that calls for 10w40, they also make it in 20w50, at Walmart they are selling it …
Rotella T6 5w-40 in a Gas engine | BobIsTheOilGuy
Feb 27, 2010 · Apr 28, 2011. #7. Rotella T6 is API-SM rated, which means it's fine for use in gas engines. The amount of ZDDP in T6 is a lot less than it used to be; it's still in there though-about 1200ppm. Compared to an old box of [censored] n span, that's not much, but still more than the 300ppm of some newer oils.

Oct 23, 2009 · The following is their response: Rotella T 5w-40 meets both the API CJ-4 and SM specifications. It can therefore be used in Gasoline as well as diesel engines. We do not recommend for use in engines with catalytic converters that require ILSAC GF-4 specifications.

This does not constitute a license or approval, it is just a statement by the oil manufacturer, Shell. The photo in Post #2 shows the proper labeling for a JASO MA-licensed oil.
