Be generous with water especially the 1st year and use a root growth stimulator when planting. Throw some bonemeal in the planting hole and a bit above once planted too.

It's about 10' away from the east wall of my house, 5' away from the west wall of my greenhouse and about 4' away from the south side of a large willow oak.

I allways assumed the slow release fertilizer was giving too much of a certain nutrient and not enough of another in the beggining. They allways turned out dark green eventually as all the nutrients were dispursed in time.

It may not move much, since it is a recent transplant. If the newer fronds are doing more than brown tipping then I would be concerned. 1.

WEBJun 18, 2015 · According to the USDA zones I would be in zone 7. No butia will ever survive here without heavy protection. However, many yuccas are good down to -20C or lower. Unlike butias (or most palms in general) they tolerate long periods of sub-freezing temperatures and the roots are almost equally hardy as the rest of the plant.

WEBMay 9, 2024 · New growth on Pindo is starting to sag and look a bit pale. I don’t have photos because it’s night but I’ll try my best to show what is happening. Old fronds are also starting to brown along the fronds edges. This never used to be an issue and would like to know solutions to get it green again.

WEBApr 3, 2024 · They can be messy for sure, but you can always cut off the flower stalk (inflorescence) before they set fruit. Thankfully they are easily removed since they form relatively low on the palm. The fruits are delicious so they can attract wasps or other critters but they make excellent jelly!
