Similar to conventional hex keys, but with a hexagonal ball point at one end. This is a specially shaped hex profile that allows operation at up to 25° off axis, and is ideal for access to screws in hard to reach areas. It is quicker to use than the conventional type, as the ball point provides a lead-in to screw heads.

The ball end hex key is excellent for giving you up to a 30 degree angle approach, on hard to reach fasteners. Don’t use the ball end, however, for initial loosening or tightening down the fastener, or you’ll be in for a surprise. There’s a reason the ball is placed on the long end of the key, where less torque can be applied.
