NewJeans’ Hanni testified in tears at a National Assembly hearing on workplace harassment in South Korea’s entertainment industry on Tuesday, revealing her experiences with bullying and systemic discrimination at Hybe Labels.

K-pop star Hanni, a member of the group NewJeans, made an emotional appeal on Tuesday for young artists to be treated better in the multi-billion dollar industry, as she relayed her experience of workplace bullying during a parliamentary hearing.

The request for Hee-Jin to step down was reportedly a result of her fallout with HYBE. Dispatch first reported that HYBE received a tip-off claiming that Hee-Jin had "external consulting" to secure full management rights over ADOR.
