Bhubaneswar: With Cyclone Dana approaching Odisha coast, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has announced a 16-hour suspension of flight services at Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar,

The storm which is likely to make landfall between Bhitarkanika National Park and Dhamra port in Odisha early Friday with wind speeds of up to 120 kmph, will bring heavy rain in several south Bengal districts on October 24 and 25,

Authorities in Odisha have already evacuated more than 3 lakh people by Wednesday evening in view of cyclone Dana that is threatening to impact nearly half of the state's population.

"Airport operation will be suspended from 5 pm on October 24 to 9 am on October 25 due to cyclone Dana," the statement said.

Flight operations at Kolkata Airport will halt from 6 PM on October 24 until 9 AM on October 25 due to Cyclone Dana. Passengers should stay updated on their flight statuses and plan for potential delays.

The Kolkata airport authorities have decided to suspend flight operations for 15 hours from 6 pm on Thursday in view of the possible impact of cyclone Dana, an official said.

Cyclone Dana is likely to make landfall between Bhitarkanika National Park and Dhamra port in neighbouring Odisha early Friday.
