Spirit AeroSystems is weighing furloughs or layoffs of hundreds more employees if the Boeing machinists' strike stretches beyond Nov. 25, a company spokesman told CNBC on Thursday. More than 32,000 Boeing machinists walked off the job on Sept.

The ongoing strike by Boeing workers is not only affecting the plane maker, but its suppliers as well after workers rejected the latest deal Wednesday.Spirit AeroSystems stock fell 1.6% to $32.13 early Thursday.

"Just to be clear, there's no change in our commitment to the Spirit acquisition and the integration," Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg said.

Spirit AeroSystems will furlough 700 employees in Wichita for 21 days starting Oct. 28, the company said Friday. The furloughs will affect employees working on the Boeing 767 and 777. The furlough is a result of the ongoing strike by Boeing employees, which started on Sept. 13.
