Despite UCF ‘s last-minute loss at No. 9 Iowa State, the Knights are tied at No. 10 in this week’s Big 12 power rankings. Iowa State and BYU remained 1-2 for the fourth consecutive week. A panel of media who regularly cover the league gave the Cyclones 10 of a possible 16 first-place votes, while BYU received the remaining six first-place votes.

Again, the Cougars hold on to the top spot in these power rankings by virtue of their two wins over teams currently in the top 25 — and with Kansas State and SMU playing well and winning, that only strengthens the perception of those BYU victories.

I said this last week with this article, and I will more than likely say it each week for the rest of the season—the parity in the Big 12 is real, and it's evident each week on the scoreboard and in our Big 12 Football Power Rankings.

The Wildcats never should have been ranked inside the top 20. This is not the same team that ended last season on a hot streak under coach Jedd Fisch, even though Noah Fifita and Tetairoa McMillan are back.
