Starfleet Academy has scored an early Season 2 renewal — and a plum cast addition. Paramount+ announced the pickup on Saturday at New York Comic-Con, where the network also revealed that Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black) will recur in Season 1 of the Star Trek offshoot.

As revealed at the Star Trek Universe panel at New York Comic-Con, 2024, Section 31 will stream on Paramount+ on January 24, 2025. This will be the first time a Star Trek film has been specifically created for a streaming platform. As of this writing, there are no plans for Section 31 to lead into an ongoing series.

The "Star Trek Universe" panel at New York Comic Con on Saturday unveiled first looks at Season 3 of "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" and the fifth and final season of "Star Trek: Lower Decks" - including screening the season premiere episode of the animated series for the assembled fans.

Paramount+ has set January 24, 2025 for the premiere of its upcoming movie Star Trek: Section 31, starring Michelle Yeoh in a reprisal of her Star Trek: Discovery role as Emperor Philippa Georgiou. The announcement was made Saturday during the Star Trek universe panel at New York Comic Con.
