Lucas Kunce, a Missouri Democrat candidate was shooting an AR-15-style weapon at his campaign event in Kansas City when Ryan Gamboa, a TV reporter who was covering the event, got hit with a metal fragment on his arm.

Democrat Lucas Kunce is one of four candidates challenging Republican Josh Hawley in this year’s U.S. Senate race. The Independence-based attorney touted his 13 years in the U.S. Marine Corps as qualifying him to represent Missouri in the U.

Court records also show that a Holt man who played a role in setting up the gun range, and remained close to Kunce and Kinzinger during the shooting, faces felony perjury charges, accused of lying in a child abuse case that was dismissed.
