The National Park Service (NPS) has restored access to an additional six miles of the Blue Ridge Parkway from Milepost 405.5, near NC Route 151, to Milepost 411.8, at NC Route 276 on Nov. 1. According to a release,

The Blue Ridge Parkway is now continuously open from milepost 0, at the southern terminus of Shenandoah National Park (the same as mile 0 of the Blue Ridge Parkway), to milepost 217.3, just south of the NC/VA state line, the release said.

The tireless work of countless people who have descended upon western North Carolina to assist in the recovery efforts after the region was slammed by Hurricane Helene in September is paying off as National Park Service officials announce additional sections of the iconic Blue Ridge Parkway have been reopened.

The National Park Service opened 16 miles of the Blue Ridge Parkway near Fancy Gap and running to the North Carolina border on Friday. The Blue Ridge Parkway is now continuously open from Milepost 0, at the southern terminus of Shenandoah National Park, to Milepost 217.3, just south of the North Carolina/Virginia state line.

Additional stretches of the Blue Ridge Parkway were opened to traffic Friday morning, including a short section near Mount Pisgah in North Carolina.

The southernmost section of the Blue Ridge Parkway, near the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, is open again to visitors.

The National Park Service reopened two southern sections of the Blue Ridge Parkway Oct. 30, restoring access to nearly 55 miles of the scenic byway.
