A yellow weather warning remains in place as Storm Ashley hit Northern Ireland overnight. The first named storm of the season is expected to bring winds of up to 80mph in parts of the UK. Temporary flood defences have been erected along parts of the River Lagan in Belfast in anticipation of the storm.

The Met Office has issued an Amber Severe Weather Warning for Northern Ireland as Storm Ashley intensifies. The warning is currently in place for Sunday, October 20, and Monday, October 21. The Amber Severe Weather Warning means there is an increased risk of impacts from severe weather – the possibility of travel delays,

The Met Office has issued an amber weather warning ahead of Storm Ashley for the north-west of Scotland on Sunday, as well as a yellow warning for the entirety of Scotland and Northern Ireland, and parts of north-west England and Wales. The amber warning will be in force from 9am on Sunday until midnight, and the yellow between 3am and midnight.
