Another home along NC’s Outer Banks collapses into ocean, sixth since May
RODANTHE, N.C. (WNCN) — Another oceanfront home along North Carolina’s Outer Banks has collapsed. According to Cape Hatteras National Seashore, an occupied house located at 23241 Surf Side Drive in Rodanthe collapsed in the overnight hours between Thursday and Friday.

Another house in Rodanthe has collapsed into the ocean on the Outer Banks, temporarily closing off access to the beach.
6th house collapses into ocean along NC Outer Banks, 11th since 2020
The house is the sixth to collapse in 2024 and the 11th to collapse since 2020 on Seashore beaches. The beachfront of Rodanthe is closed due to hazardous debris, and officials are asking the public to avoid the beach and ocean for many miles south of Rodanthe.
Another Outer Banks house collapses, 7th in 2024
The Cape Hatteras National Seashore said the unoccupied house collapsed at 23241 Surf Side Drive in Rodanthe, North Carolina. This is the seventh house to fall this year and the 11th house in the last four years. The last house fell on Sept. 24 and it was the third within a week. The other homes fell in March, May and August.
