Saoirse Ronan revealed during a recent interview with Jimmy Kimmel that it’s been impossible to let go of losing out on the role of Luna Lovegood in the “Harry Potter” franchise. Evanna Lynch was cast as the fan-favorite character starting in 2007’s “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

Saoirse Ronan almost attended Hogwarts. In an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the Oscar-nominated actor revealed that she auditioned to play Luna Lovegood in the Harry Potter film franchise, a part that ultimately went to Evanna Lynch.

Her notable roles include Susie in The Lovely Bones, a teenage assassin in Hanna, and a baker in The Grand Budapest Hotel. Recently, she portrayed Jo March in Greta Gerwig’s Little Women and won a Golden Globe for her lead role in 2017’s Lady Bird, co-starring Timothee Chalamet.

The character of Luna Lovegood is introduced in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, which debuted in theaters in 2007 with then-newcomer Evanna Lynch in the role. That was the same year Ronan's film Atonement came out, earning her her first Oscar nomination at age 13.
