Tens of millions of people across the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic are under winter weather warnings this weekend in the first major winter storm of the new year, according to the National Weather Service,

Americans are under winter weather alerts as a major storm threatens much of the U.S. City Manager Brian Platt said, “This is going to be one of the most historic, significant storms Kansas City has ever seen.

The Kansas City metro is still digging itself out from a nearly-record 11 inches of snow that got dumped by a blizzard over the weekend. Roads remain icy and treacherous, however, and much of the city remains shut down.
