Dubai's Emirates has ordered five Boeing 777F freighters and will make a decision this year on a purchase of further Boeing or Airbus models for its fleet beyond 2028/29, the airline said on Monday. By December 2026, Emirates SkyCargo is expected to operate a fleet of 21 production-built Boeing 777 freighters, expanding its current fleet of 11 aircraft. In addition to production-built aircraft, Emirates has invested in converting ten passenger Boeing 777-3000ERs into freighters for further capacity and fleet growth.

Emirates, the world’s largest international airline and a major buyer of Boeing Co. widebody aircraft, said it will have “serious conversations” with the US planemaker in coming months following an announcement that the 777X model will be delayed yet again.

Emirates SkyCargo ordered five more Boeing 777 freighters, building on its earlier purchase of five. The latest order, which was finalized in September and listed as unidentified on Boeing's Orders and Deliveries website, brings Emirates' order book to 249 Boeing widebody airplanes, including 14 777 freighters.
