A US judge has ruled that Google must open up Andriod for third-party app stores. The ruling, made on Monday, was one of several remedies in the landmark antitrust case brought against Google by Epic Games,

Google has to open up the Play Store. On Monday, US District Judge James Donato issued a permanent injunction forcing the company to open its storefront to competitors for three years and make Android apps available in alternate stores.

Google will be restricted from paying fees or sharing revenue with companies in exchange for them choosing to not compete with Google's app store.

Google will have to distribute third-party stores in the Play Store and give third-party rivals full access to Google Play's catalog of apps, thanks to the latest ruling in its legal battle with Epic Games.
