MP Mahua Maji on Sunday targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing the saffron party of struggling to find a suitable candidate to contest against chief minister Hemant Soren in the upcoming state assembly elections.

The BJP announced its initial list of candidates for 66 constituencies in the upcoming Jharkhand assembly elections. Key figures include Babulal Marandi and Champai Soren. The party aims to contest 68 out of 81 seats and seeks to unseat the JMM-led alliance in the November polls.

Babulal Marandi, the BJP's Jharkhand president and candidate from Dhanwar, has sharply criticised the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM). He accused them of exploiting the state's resources over the last five years.

The BJP released its first list of candidates with 66 names for the upcoming Jharkhand elections 2024. The BJP has fielded party's state chief Babulal Marandi from Dhanwar, former CM and JMM-turned-BJP leader Champai Soren from Saraikella.

Among the 66 candidates announced by the Bharatiya Janata Party are former Chief Minister Babulal Marandi and former Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leaders Champai Soren and Sita Soren, both of whom recently switched allegiance to the BJP.

BJP announced its first list of 66 candidates for Jharkhand assembly polls, including family members of five former Chief Ministers. The list includes 26 STs, 7 SCs, 21 OBCs, and 12 from the general category.

The saffron party has nominated state chief Babulal Marandi from Dhanwar, Lobin Hembrom from Borio, Sita Soren from Jamtara.
