Germany on Thursday pledged a further €96 million ($104 million) in support for Lebanon at an aid conference convened by French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris. Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said Berlin would provide €36 million in humanitarian aid,

France pledged to provide a 100-million euro ($108-million) package to support Lebanon at an international conference Thursday, as President Emmanuel Macron said “massive aid” is needed to support the country where war between Hezbollah militants and Israel has displaced a million people,

France is hoping that a meeting on Thursday of some 70 delegations to support Lebanon will raise about 500 million euros ($540 million) in humanitarian aid, according to a foreign ministry framework document for the conference.

Fraench President Emmanuel Macron said Thursday his country would support Lebanon with 100 million euros, as Paris hosted an aid conference with big financial aims but slim diplomatic prospects.
