Grand lake saint marys is centered between 2 small cities and a village. Traffic is seldomly a problem unless you are visiting during festivals on the lake then that could pose a small problem. But i dont ever recall a traffic jam anywhere along grand lake. Its usually calm and mellow anywhere you go on the lake.
Is it ever safe for children to swim? We are considering moving there because of my husbands job and I am concerned that my kids could never go in the water.

No it is not the safest place for children to swim, we have a camper around there, and they posted warnings about the water
