WEBOur paid three-year Guide Dog Mobility Instructor Apprentice Program offers direct mentorship, intense on-the-job training, and a comprehensive academic curriculum. Apprentices learn how to train dogs and clients, support teams in the field, and assess applicants alongside qualified instructors.

WEBCourse Lectures and Dog Equipment. The Guide Dog Foundation will provide all required training lectures. Each lecture is available in a Microsoft Word, text, or Mp3 formats. All dog equipment including collar, harness, leash, grooming supplies, and one year's worth of heartworm and flea and tick preventative will be provided at no cost.

How Guide Dogs are Trained - Leader Dogs for the Blind
WEBGuide dog training has four phases, each of which introduces more challenging work and lasts about a month. Our guide dog mobility instructors work in teams. When the team begins with a new class of dogs, each instructor is assigned a “string” of about eight dogs.
